Why don't Indians eat with a knife and fork?



Because , we know the benefits of Eating food using Hand.

The Bacteria “Normal Flora” is found in our palms and finger tips. When we eat with our hands we swallow these bacteria which is helpful in digestion.

When our hands touch the food it elicits the signal about the texture of food which stimulates the release of digestive juices in right proportion.

When we eat with hands, we are aware of the process of Eating by all senses. Hence it promotes better digestion again.

It prevents accidental burning of our tongue. We feel the temperature of food with our hands.
Ancient Vedas compares our five fingers with five elements. Hence, eating by hand stimulates these five elements and brings forth digestion.

Forefinger - Air
Middle finger - Fire
Ring finger - Water
Little finger - Earth



Nerve ending in our finger tip signals digestion. Feeling the food by hand tells our brain we are about to eat and prepares it for digestion

It is more hygienic. Unlike spoons, our hand is confined to ourselves. No other can use it except us.

Mom feeds food to her child with her hands. The best feeling ever.
When children feed their parents, the ordinary food becomes a feast for the parents. No spoons can ever match that.
